Yuko Maruyama and the Mercantile Alley Band will perform at the San Diego County Fair on June 29, 1:30 PM at Paddock Stage. The Mercantile Alley Band performs uniquely modern interpretations of classic American songs from the 1930’s and 40’s traditional swing jazz era, inspired by the old time radio shows. This 60-minute workshop is part of the annual 2018 MTAC Popular Music Festival, and all Festival performers are invited to participate. The event is geared toward teachers as well as intermediate- or advanced-level instrumentalists who have the theory understanding of at least CM level 5. Improvisers of all levels are welcome. Jazz pianist Yuko Maruyama and the 4-piece Mercantile Alley Band will perform original compositions from her albums "In Tone Nation" and "Piano Bento" as well as her uniquely modern interpretations of favorite American classics from the 1940's Big Band era.
